What is a modular sofa?
A modular sofa is a sofa made of separate pieces, such as seats, corners and ottomans, that sit side by side. The same pieces can be arranged into an L-shape, a U-shape, a straight sofa or two smaller groups, and rearranged whenever you like.
What is the difference between a modular sofa and a sectional?
A classic sectional is built in one fixed shape, with the chaise or corner always on the same side. A modular sofa is a sectional made of independent pieces, so you can change the shape, move the chaise to the other side or split it in two.
Why choose a modular sofa over a regular sofa?
A modular sofa adapts to your room instead of the other way around. It arrives one piece at a time, so it goes through narrow doors and up stairs, and when you move or your room changes, you rearrange it instead of buying a new sofa.
Will it fit through my door and up my stairs?
Lakely sofas ship in boxes: modular models arrive one module or group of modules per box, and compressed models arrive compressed in a box, so each box is much smaller than an assembled sofa. Each product page lists the overall dimensions and the number of boxes; measure your doorways and stairs before ordering.
Can I change the layout after delivery?
Yes, that is the whole idea. The pieces are separate, so you can move them whenever you like. On modular models, the product page shows the layouts you can build with the pieces you receive.
How much does shipping cost and how long does it take?
Shipping is free on every order to the 48 contiguous states and Washington, D.C. Orders are prepared within 24 hours and delivered in 3 to 5 days, often in several boxes that you can follow on our tracking page.
Do you ship to Alaska or Hawaii?
Not yet. We currently ship to the 48 contiguous states and Washington, D.C. only, and not to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, U.S. territories or APO/FPO addresses.
What if something arrives damaged or I change my mind?
If a box or module arrives damaged, tell us within 48 hours with photos and a video and we replace the module. You can return a complete order within 14 days of the last box; a change of mind has a 20% restocking fee, and every sofa has a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
How do I pick the right size?
Measure the wall or the area where the sofa will go, then compare it with the overall width, depth and the top view on each product page. Marking the outline on the floor with painter tape helps a lot.
